Bronze heritage plaques are a timeless way to honour history and preserve the character of historic homes and landmarks. Crafting these plaques requires careful planning, with extensive research and reference images to ensure historical accuracy and visual appeal. Since every detail must be meticulously pieced together, these plaques demand extra time and effort to create a design that is both aesthetically pleasing and suitable for casting. The result is a beautifully crafted tribute that not only enhances the charm of a heritage property but also stands as a lasting testament to its rich history
Below is a collection of 10 heritage plaques we created for Stirling City Council in Western Australia as part of the Mount Lawley Heritage Walk.
Each plaque design came with its own unique challenges. For example, Hampstead was one of the few that had beautifully detailed historic photos. The best photo had too much detail to be able to cast well so we changed perspective for dramatic effect and focused on the side which really encapsulated the overall feel of the mansion. Fortunately a lot of the detail could be preserved with this method on a 400mm x 400mm plaque.
Heritage plaque projects are usually undertaken by councils for preselected buildings. They often take time and require a green light from muliple parties. The level of care and attention to detail does come with an extra design cost – depending on the clarity of the source material and brief. We pride ousrselves on being one of the few companies willing and able to create such beautiful works of historic importance which will last as long as the the wonders they pay tribute to.
